Foster Parent Training Classes

The first step to becoming a foster parent is training.  We use the PRIDE curriculum in our foster parent training classes. The PRIDE program teaches us how to effectively protect and nurture children, meet children's developmental needs, and support relationships between children and their families. You will learn how to connect children to safe, nurturing lifelong relationships and work as a member of a professional team. PRIDE is a nationally acclaimed model for developing and supporting foster families. We also add some of our own specialized training to the PRIDE classes to better train you in the role of a therapeutic foster parent. These additions include Trauma & Loss, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Family Providers (TCIF) and a Foster Parent/Foster Child Panel at the end of the class.

We try to accomodate everyone's busy schedules by offering classes several times throughout the year. An example of recent Foster Parent Training class times:

Daytime - Tuesday & Thursday 9am-4pm

Evenings - Monday & Thursday 6-9pm

Weekends - Saturdays 9-3:30pm
