Waterford Country School Foster Care has built its foster care program by developing strong relationships with our foster families through exceptional communication and support services. Foster families are our partners in the very important task of taking care of children. To assist them, we provide a wide-range of services.
Staff Support is a top priority. Weekly, our Foster Care Coordinators visit every foster family to spend time with the foster child. The Coordinator is also available to help with any issues foster parents may have. Most importantly, we provide around-the-clock crisis intervention.
Respite Services both planned and emergency – are available for foster parents to utilize.
Parent Support Groups are offered monthly in our Norwich office during evening hours. Two daytime Parent Support Groups are offered on a quarterly basis in Wauregan and Waterford. By attending support groups, trainings and family events, our foster parents have the opportunity to build a strong network of other foster parents facing similar challenges.
Ongoing Trainings are available to all our foster parents including those presented by WCS staff, Connecticut based trainers and nationally acclaimed experts. Our monthly, informational newsletter will let you know what trainings are upcoming and where.
Family Events are offered year-round to foster families. From laid back summer barbecues to an elegant Parent-Appreciation Dinner, we offer events throughout the year designed to celebrate your work as a foster parent.
